Portland naked bike ride photos
The 2017 World Naked Bike Ride was one of Portland’s greatest! Each year the number of riders grows larger. It has become so big that organizers and local authorities have expressed concern about the manageability of the event. The participants exercised the usual restraint, tolerance, and safety awareness that is characteristic of the WNBR.
The protest event was a huge success! A spirit of love and kindness ruled the night. Keep-Portland-Weird.com is very grateful to all the riders who agreed to let us share photos of them. Doing our part to Keep Portland Weird, we have posted our Portland Bike Ride photos for 2017 here. This year produced some of the best Portland naked bike ride pics ever. The World Naked Bike Ride is an annual event that takes place in cities all over the planet. It is a protest against oil dependency.
The WNBR is also a demonstration calling attention to bicyclist safety, encouraging motorist to be mindful of cyclists. The Portland WNBR also raises awareness of the problem of body dysmorphophobia and promotes the concept of body positivity, challenging how society often views body shape and size, as well as conventional notions of beauty.
By liberating themselves from clothing, riders demonstrate the vulnerability of cyclists, increase self-esteem, and celebrate the idea that all humans are beautiful and none are perfect.
The World Naked Bike Ride is a peaceful, legal protest. A frequently asked question is, “Isn’t public nudity illegal?” In this context the answer is, “No!” In a political demonstration like this, non-sexual nudity is not illegal in Oregon, since 1985. The naked protesters have gained the cooperation of the Portland Police Bureau. The police secure the route and manage traffic control as the riders follow the route of the WNBR.

The naked bike ride was estimated between 8,500 to 11,00. This ride was around seven or eight miles but many nude cyclists continued riding until the early morning hours, and it is somewhat uncertain where the ride officially ended. The ride began to break up after heading down the Burnside Bridge toward downtown.
One large group of WNBR participants made their way to the fountain at Salmon Street Springs. The night was quite warm and the fountain was too inviting to ignore. Within a short time, thousands had made their way to the area and a great many took to the fountain. The cold water was just what was needed. Riders frolicked and played with child-like joy enjoying the refreshing spray. It was the perfect ending to an amazing ride!
