Hundreds of Portlanders held a peaceful rally on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Elizabeth Caruthers Park, with a military helicopter circling overhead.  The rally featured several speakers from community organizations calling for an end to the abusive tactics of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency and stopping the planned deployment of National Guard troops in Portland.

The City of Portland and the State of Oregon filed suit in federal court on October 28th to block the military invasion of the city.  Late in the day on Saturday a judge, appointed by Trump, ruled against the government, temporarily blocking the troop deployment.  In her ruling, U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut, stated the situation “boils down to a simple proposition: this is a nation of Constitutional law, not martial law“.  Regarding PussyGrabber’s claims of  “chaos, death, and destruction” in Portland, the judge found “The President’s determination was simply untethered  to the facts.”  Again, this judge was appointed by The Liar in Chief, which probably means that he was told to nominate her for the bench by the Federalist Society, since the short fingered orange vulgarian is clueless.  So clueless, in fact that he repeatedly referred to Judge Immergut as male, saying, “I wasn’t served well by the people that pick judges. I can tell you things like that are just too bad. I appointed the judge and he goes like that, so I wasn’t served well, obviously I don’t know the judge… but if he made that kind of a decision, Portland is burning to the ground. You have agitators, insurrectionists. All you have to do is look at the television, turn on your television, read your newspapers. It’s burning to the ground. The governor, the mayor, the politicians are petrified for their lives like that. That judge ought to be ashamed of himself.”  What an idiot!

The bigot-in-chief is siccing the military on U.S. civilians at home because he has no idea of what’s really going on.  His advisors are right-wing crackpots, and with perhaps the world’s most sophisticated intelligence apparatus at his disposal, he gets his information from television, conservative influencers, and fringe ultra-right fake news sources.  It’s frightening.

The rally was followed by a march to the ICE facility in southwest Portland.  When the protesters reached ICE, federal agents were perched atop the building with weapons and surveillance equipment.  Dozens more federal cops were behind the gates to the facility and a military helicopter and a surveillance drone were in the sky above.  These intimidation tactics only served to hype up the protesters, who chanted energetically.

During the protest, a pre-recorded message rang out from ICE loudspeakers, warning people to stay off of federal property.  The protesters stayed on the sidewalk or in the street.  At several times during the demonstration, announcements told people not to block vehicles entering and exiting the facility.  On multiple occasions, the gates opened and dozens of federal police marched out and assaulted protesters.  They pushed the crowd away from the sidewalk in front of the entrance, and forced the non-violent protesters all the way across the street to the sidewalk on the opposite side of the road.  Some of those who did not move fast enough, were shoved to the ground, including a few elderly people.

The agents fired pepper balls and threw teargas canisters, sending demonstrators scrambling.  It was a disgusting display of force against people exercising their right of free speech on public property.  It was especially uncomfortable to see elderly protesters getting tear gassed and knocked to the ground.  The actions of the American government turning against its own people was horrifying, but each time the pigs retreated behind the gates, the brave citizens resumed protesting.

Far-right media personality Katie Daviscourt was given special access to the Portland ICE facility.  She is shown here on the building rooftop with a border patrol helicopter in the background.

It appeared no other media had the honor.  Perhaps Donald himself authorized it.

We know he has a special place in his heart for blonde white ladies.

It was later learned that Chelly Bouferrache, a right-wing Internet ‘influencer’ was also given access.  Bill Melugin, a national correspondent for Fox News, also reported from the roof of the building, eight days after The Oregonian/OregonLive asked for a tour and was ignored.  On October 6th The Oregonian asked again to have a reporter and photographer get access and was ignored.  To the best of our knowledge, all the other major local TV affiliates, Oregon Public Broadcasting, the Portland Mercury, Willamette Week, and the Oregon Capital Chronicle requests were also denied or ignored.

Later in the afternoon caravans of vehicles, with license plates from many western states and Illinois, entered the ICE compound. Vehicles were from California, Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Oregon among others.  The vehicles were of various makes and models.  All had dark tinted windows but some occupants were visible.  Some were in uniforms while others were in street clothing.  It did not look as if these vehicles were carrying ICE detainees.

It was reported that 101 National Guard troops from California had been dispatched to Portland, prior to a decision by U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut, temporarily blocking the invasion of federal troops, on a a case filed by the city of Portland and state of Oregon.

On October 7th, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security and puppy killer, Kristi Noem, visited the ICE facility.  Noem has described local officials as “pansies” and said “anarchists run this city”.
